The Federal Republic of Nigeria celebrated its 52nd Independence Anniversary on 1st October 2012, and to commemorate the occasion in a unique way, the Embassy of Nigeria in Budapest visited two social institutions in Budapest.  In addition, a low-key reception was held on the eve of the National Day with families and some friends of Nigeria at the Obuda Cultural Centre Budapest.

 

His Excellency Chief Eddy Onuoha, the Ambassador of Nigeria to Hungary and members of staff of the Embassy visited the Vázsony Vilmos Elderly People’s Home and showcased a bit of the Nigerian culture through a musical and dance performance. Ambassador Onuoha thereafter, presented an LCD television set to the senior Hungarian citizens living in the home so as to enable them comfortably watch world events and also have the opportunity to learn more of Nigeria through TV programmes.

Ambassador Onuoha and his staff then paid another visit to the Diószeghy Utca Children’s Home where the music and sports loving Children danced and sang along with their guests and showed their happiness to receive the sports equipment donated by the Embassy.
