Public Notice to Nigerians
Please be informed that the Hungarian Government has issued a new legislation by which non-biometric
Nigerian passports will no longer be accepted  for entry into or residence in Hungary with effect from 16 February 2010.
In reaction, the Embassy has made strong representations to the Hungarian Government on the new legislation.

Meanwhile, Nigerian nationals can apply online https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/index.htm

for biometric passports from the Nigerian Missions in London, Rome, Berlin and Madrid. Nigerians are however, required to contact the Embassy in Budapest before applying online. For more information, contact the Embassy via phone  (2122021 or 2122022), email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or visit the Embassy during our consular hours (Mon:2pm-4pm, Wed and Fri:10am-12noon). The inconvenience suffered by our compatriots by this new law is regretted.


Register with Nigerian Embassy, Budapest, Hungary

Nigerians resident in Hungary, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina are being encouraged to register with the Embassy. You are kindly requested to come along with the original documents(valid Nigerian passport, residence permit, student id card etc.) and one recent passport photograph on Wednesdays and Fridays, between 10.00hrs and 12.00hrs. Although, it is not obligatory to register, the Embassy is of the opinion that such registration could be useful in future.

Important notice to all visa applicants
All visa applicants are advised to read through the visa requirements on the Embassy's website before submitting documents as incomplete applications will  not be accepted. Applicants are also advised to make all the necessary photocopies of documents before coming to the Embassy.

Public Holidays
The Embassy will be closed to the general public on the following dates:
15th March 2010- Hungarian Public Holiday (1848 Revolution Day)
2nd and 5th April 2010- Easter Holiday
