This Attestation Letter is issued to Nigerians wishing to register their new born with a Nigerian name in Hungary. Please note that this document cannot be used outside Hungary. Kindly request for the letter only after the birth of your baby. Please note that the Embassy issues one letter per baby.
Required documents to be submitted:
- Scanned copy of valid Nigerian e-passport of the person (Nigerian) requesting for the Attestation Letter
- Scanned copy of valid Hungarian residence permit of the person requesting for the Attestation Letter
- Scanned copy of a typed and signed letter from the Nigerian parent(s) addressed to the Consular Department, Embassy of Nigeria requesting for the issuance of the Attestation Letter. Please indicate the full names to be given to your child, the name of your wife and date of delivery. If you have more than one baby, you should submit a request for each baby with the relevant information.
- Document from the hospital confirming the birth of the child
- Copy of Marriage Certificate (if married)
- Evidence of Service Charge and Administrative Charge (Non-Refundable)
- Evidence of mother's identity (Valid Residence Permit, Passport, ID card or any government issued document)
Your request can be submitted to the Embassy in person, via a proxy (with authorisation letter) or via email (only PDF format).
After receiving your documents, we will review it and prepare the letter. Thereafter, you will receive an email with a draft to proofread. After the letter is ready, we will inform you to pick up the letter from the Embassy. The letter can be collected in person or through a proxy. If a proxy is collecting the letter on your behalf, an authorisation letter would be required.
Cost:
- Service Charge is $60 and Administrative Charge is $30.

Payments are made in two ways:
- Deposit relevant service charge and administrative charge by visiting any MKB Bank. The applicant
submits the deposit slip from MKB Bank as evidence of payment.
- Transfer relevant service charge and administrative fee via online banking, and submit copy of
e-receipt. The Finance Attaché confirms receipt of funds.
Please note the following when
paying the consular fee:
A commission/transfer fee will be charged by the Bank when depositing or transferring the consular fee. Please ensure
the total amount on the MKB deposit slip has the exact amount of the consular
service needed.
All consular fees paid via bank transfer can only be acknowledged after the Finance Section has confirmed receipt of the transfer.
Provide payment details when making
payment. Include the type of consular service
you are paying and this appears in the remark column of the deposit slip.
Submit the original MKB Bank slip or evidence of the bank transfer when submitting your documents.
Each
applicant will receive a draft copy of the document to be issued via
email. You will be required to confirm the information contained in the
document and revert to the Embassy if there are omissions or errors. Please note that the re-issuance of
any document will attract the payment of service and consular fee
respectively. Kindly ensure you check the draft document for any errors
before it is signed and stamped.
Processing Period:
Please note that the processing of request for consular services
takes up to ten (10) working days. However, express services are
available, with an extra charge of US$50
